You’d never call the artist SpY a minimalist, but…
He kind of is, except he frequently uses motors. His art is often kinetic, in artspeak.
And what’s up with the anonymous observer in his latest video?
Walking around, looking at this work of art.
SpY has done this before.
Why? Probably because an observor adds to the feeling that the art is about more than just the steel sculpture.
A strolling viewer wouldn’t make sense in a video about a traditional painting or sculpture, right?
But sPy’s stuff is about space, and movement, and perception. So it works.
